TP16100M - Foam Separator
The AKTEK Biogas Model TP16100M Foam Separator is designed for use in piping systems to remove foam caused by agitation from the digester discharge gas. The foam must be dispersed and collected in order to protect downstream equipment from corrosion or clogging. The Foam Separator is typically installed in the digester gas piping.
Foam is removed from the gas as it flows through the separator by subjecting the gas/foam mixture to a direct spray of water inside the separator. The gas then rises vertically past an internal baffle in order to flow from the tank. Foam and solids are heavier than gas, and the combination of the large vertical rise the gas has to travel, and the continuous spray of water will knock the foam out of the gas and direct it to the bottom of the chamber. The foam is removed via a drain connection. An optional visual flow indicator is provided in the drain line to confirm water flow.
Liquid level switches allow high and low level alarms to be used. At low water condition, source power is routed through the low-level switch to a low water alarm. Once the water level rises above the low-level switch, power is routed to the water solenoid valve energizing it open. If for any reason, the water level rises above the high level switch, power is then routed to a high level alarm. At this high level condition, the knock-down water solenoid valve is de-energized closed which stops the water flow.

TP13100M - Dessicant Basket
The AKTEK Model TP13100M Air Dryer absorbs moisture from the air that is drawn into a storage tank during the unloading of product or by “thermal breathing” conditions. Desiccant of high absorptive capacity is used as the drying agent. The hard ball shaped form of the desiccant minimizes the pressure drop, permitting more efficiency. This is a function of material surface area and retention time. The nature of the desiccant does not change the flow of gas up to the point of maximum saturation since the moisture is absorbed within the pores of the material. The desiccant is contained in a perforated stainless steel basket that can be easily removed for cleaning or maintenance.
Model TP13100M Air Dryer is 40 inches high and both the cover and basket can be removed through the use of 3/8″ bolts. The desiccant basket holds 50 pounds on the 2″ size and 200 pounds on the 3″ size; this is the recommended amount required to properly operate the air dryer. The air dryer is available in 2″ or 3″ NPT or flanged to match 150Ib. ANSI connections. Nominal flow for 1″ W.C. pressure drop is 840 SCFH for the 2″ size and 3500 SCFH for the 3″ size.
The humidity indicator is a good barometer to monitor when the desiccant bed is saturated. To reactivate a saturated desiccant bed, heat the bed to 400°F until all moisture is vaporized. The desiccant can be subjected to thousands of absorption-reactivation cycles without any appreciable loss of efficiency.
Product Features
- Protects damage to moisture sensitive products
- Absorbs moisture drawn into storage tank during unloading or by “thermal breathing”
- Desiccant can be reactivated thousands of times without appreciable loss in efficiency
- Humidity indicator informs when desiccant bed should be changed
- Available in 2″ or 3″ NPT or flanged connections

TP16200M - Condensate Accumulator
The AKTEK Biogas TP16200M Condensate Accumulator is designed permit the removal and storage of liquid condensation from biogas while maintaining system pressure integrity. Condensate is a typical byproduct that forms in the pipeline when the hot, saturated biogas cools as it moves through the piping system. The removal of condensate from the biogas is necessary to keep the gas train running by protecting the downstream equipment and piping from corrosion, blockage and water hammer. The AKTEK Biogas TP16200M is especially designed for hydrogen sulfide and hot/wet methane, which are the main components of digester gas streams in municipal wastewater treatment facilities.
The TP16200M installation will typically be immediately downstream of the digester at the lowest elevation to ensure the gravity feed of the condensation into the holding tank. In most applications, the TP16200M Condensate Accumulator is used in conjunction with the AKTEK Biogas TP16300M Sediment Trap to ensure the optimal performance of the system.
The operation of removing condensate from within the TP16200M is managed by a piped connection (drip leg) constructed through the tank wall, which extends down to the drain elevation. As the condensate level rises to the level of the drain, it will be evacuated through the drip leg. To ensure proper management of condensation from the biogas system, an optional liquid level switch and solenoid can be added to control the discharge of the condensation from within the TP16200M.
This level switch(s) provides for automatic solenoid operation of the internal drip leg. Contact Factory for this option.
Two standard capacities, 13 gallons and 125 gallons, are available for the TP16200M Condensate Accumulator. Each unit has been designed for a working pressure of 25 psig and is rigorously tested to confirm the structural integrity of the vessel.
AKTEK Biogas offers a range of materials of construction for the TP16200M Condensation Accumulator. Standard construction consists of carbon steel with a primer coating. Other coatings are available for corrosion protection. In addition, both 316 and 316L Stainless Steel construction are also available. The standard inlet connection is a 4″ ANSI B16.5 (150 lb.), flat face flange mounted to the top of the tank. (Other connections are available upon request.) The standard drain and blowout port is a 2″ NPT male connection with cap. (Other connections are available upon request.) The TP16200M is equipped with (2) ½” FNPT connections that are plugged, but may be removed for installation of either a 316SS or bronze optional sight glass for visual indication of condensate level.

TP16300M - Condensate Trap - Sediment Trap
The AKTEK Biogas TP16300M Sediment Trap is designed to drop out sediment and condensate from “wet” gas immediately downstream from the digester. This protects downstream equipment from corrosion, blockage and water hammer to keep the gas train running for years with low pressure drop.
The inlet nozzle sets up a centrifugal force and a sharp drop in velocity. This combination of forces very efficiently removes the majority of sediment and condensate from the “wet” gas.
Available in large capacities (up to 12 gallons) and with drip trap connection ports, the AKTEK Biogas TP16300M provides easy clean out and minimized maintenance times. An optional condensing baffle removes additional moisture from the gas stream for additional equipment protection and more complete combustion.
Its steel or stainless steel components withstand the severest of process environments. The AKTEK Biogas TP16300M is especially designed for hydrogen sulfide and hot, wet methane which are the main components of digester gas streams in municipal waste water treatment facilities.
Product Features
- Efficiently stores and evacuates condensate
- Protects system from damage due to corrosion
- Large storage capacity
- Optional automatic operation
- Optional sight glass

TP16400M - Graver Filter
The AKTEK Model TP16400M Foam Separator is designed to eliminate foam and remove particles from the Digester Gas Discharge. Clogging of down-stream equipment can be prevented by utilizing a AKTEK Foam Separator. Foam and solids removal is accomplished by first directing the flow into a baffle that is located in an oversized chamber. Secondly, the gas is subjected to an extended exposure (dwell time) of a continuous water spray. As a result, the foam is knocked down and removed through the drain. By using a AKTEK Foam Separator, gas line equipment such as recirculation compressors can be protected.
